Cambodia Medical Team (January 9-22, 2011) We are looking for 8-10 medically-trained people (MD/DOs, RNPs, PAs, RNs, pharmacists, physical therapists, and hygiene educators) to teach health and hygiene seminars and then do home visits in local Cambodia villages. This is our fourth year working alongside Cambodian Friends Church to develop this program; help us change lives! September 10: Men's Breakfast The first Friday of every month, at 6:15 a.m. in the Ministry Center Building (Building E), men are invited to an all-you-can-eat breakfast. In addition to the food, we enjoy a time of live music and a speaker who shares what God has done in his life. Call the church office at 714.528.6496 for more information. September 18: Bridal Shower: A Bridal Shower for Brittany Hillquist (fiancé Zach Pettikas) will be held Saturday, September 18, at 1:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room. Brittany and Zach are registered at Macy's, Target, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and Pottery Barn. Home colors are black and white with touches of red, blue, and yellow. September 19: Newcomers' BBQ: If you have just started coming to Rose Drive in the past few months, the Newcomers' BBQ is for you! Our next Newcomers' BBQ is scheduled for Sunday, September 19, from 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room. The BBQ will give you a chance to meet some of the church leadership and others who have recently been coming to church here. Kids are welcome! If you would like more information about, or would like to register for, the Newcomers' BBQ, please email or call Kristen in the church office.
 
Awana, our Midweek Children's Program for children through 5th grade, begins September 15!
Pray about getting involved!  Greeters, teachers, and adults who love to see a child grow in their faith are all welcomed.

Post-Abortion Support Group: Coming in September: Are you experiencing feelings of regret, guilt, shame from having had an abortion? It may have occurred only weeks ago, or several years ago and the sadness is not going away. If you need to talk with someone who understands on a personal level, please call Nancy (714.398.1968) or Joetta (714.273.1890). These women have walked the path from abortion to healing and forgiveness.
 
Donations please:The church library would love to have donations of books (especially children's books), CDs, and DVDs. This would be much appreciated for our next book sale. Drop your donations off at the church library (open after every service) or the church office (during the week).
 
Our church pantry is in need of donations of peanut butter, canned beans, tuna helper, canned meals, plain rice (i.e. not Rice a Roni-type), canned fruit, cereal, and spaghetti pasta. Please leave donations on the church patio on Sunday mornings or in the church office during the week. These items and others are given to people who visit the church office asking for assistance.
 
Toys Needed Do you have "gently used" medium to large sized Fisher Price-type toys that you would like to donate to Children's Ministries? We would love your donations! Please call Dean White or Maryann in the church office (714.528.6496) to arrange for delivery. Thank you!

It's summertime! That means it's POOLSIDE time!!! Poolsides are our backyard Bible study and swimming events that take place on Wednesday nights from July 7 through September 1. Each week we'll meet in the Middle School Room (E012), travel by bus to a local residence, then return to the church, where parents will pick up students. So bring your bathing suits (no 2 piece suits), towel, and a friendl! "The Summer Sideshow: Discovering God's Truth in the Bizarre."

PRIMETIME LIFETIME LEARNING SERIES & LUNCH (50+) Join us for a 3-week lecture and DVD presentation, From Yao to Mao: 5000 Years of Chinese History, Thursdays at 11:00 a.m., August 12, 19, and 26, in the Center Bldg. Come be exposed to China, the most highly populated country in the world, taught on DVD by Professor Kenneth J. Hammond from New Mexico State University.  Following the lecture, join us for lunch at HomeTown Buffet at 1:00 p.m.  For more information, contact Judi in the church office. 
 
 
LADLife after Divorce
 Life after Divorce
Tuesday, September 14, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Singles Ministry will launch a new 8-week program called Life after Divorce. The course will include DivorceCare® curriculum, an evening with an MFT, and conclude with a panel discussion with a family attorney and therapist. DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K®) will be available for children 5-12. (There will be no childcare for children under 5.) The cost is $30/adult and $15/child. Workbook and weekly dinner are included. Alpha Basics Course begins on Alpha Wednesday, September 15, for eleven weeks. Mom's ConnectionMomconnectionMom's Connection is a NEW program for Moms of preschoolers. Get together every other week with moms who share a similar desire to be the very best mom they can be! Come and join other mothers of little ones (from newborn-six years of age) and take time to rejuvenate and renew yourself through speakers, crafts, and discussing all the treasures of motherhood. While you enjoy a welcome break, your child can also participate in this fun and exciting program.
